Intechnic Corporation has been developing Plans and Specs for the past several years. Plans and Specs is a construction management system that allows general contractors, subcontractors, architects and consultants to manage and oversee their projects. The system’s various project management modules include communications tools, document management, meeting minutes, daily logs, and many other sections. With these modules, users are able to follow the construction process from start to finish, document all changes and modifications, record meetings, and even request printouts for various blueprints and documents.
Intechnic Corporation has been asked to add a Dashboard module that allows the users of the system to quickly review their projects by configuring an interactive Dashboard. The Dashboard allows users to select various modules and view the status for items in each for any project that they are assigned to. For example, for any given project, a Project Manager may choose to view a chart that will display how many open issues are currently in the system, how many of them are overdue, and how many have been closed. The project manager may also choose to view this information for several projects side-by-side. Another useful feature allows users to explore charts in more detail by selecting parts and expanding them into detailed lists of items that make up that chart.

Another important feature of the Dashboard allows users to schedule and automatically send out information from their dashboards. In other words, a user may configure their dashboard to display information about their Communications, Requests for Information, Meetings Minutes, and Change Orders and configure the system to automatically send this information out via email every business day at 8:00am.
In summary, the Dashboard provides a great daily starting point for any user of the system and allows them to have everything they need on one screen. Future plans include addition of different layouts and formats as well as extra configuration options.
