3D animation has become really popular in the recent years. And I’m not just talking about the high budget Hollywood movies. Animation is used in small scale things as well, and many Flash animation developers benefit from 3D. Earlier, the same image was created many times- kinda like a flipbook. Also, all the frames were drawn by hand. It required several hours. Thank god for 3D technologies, now creating sketches is easy and fast.
But what about creativity?
With eye-catching technologies, a layman might assume that people no longer have to be creative while designing Flash animations. They can’t be more wrong. Yes, modern technologies have certainly simplified the process, but creativity is still the domain of humans. Software can’t be creative- it can only do what it is programmed to do (not going into all the artificial intelligence mumbo jumbo).
With technology, you can reduce the hard work and working hours, but you still need the heart of an artist.
Future of Flash animators
Has Flash lost its credibility? NO. Well yeah we are hearing a lot about how people want something better, but it’s not happening anytime soon. 2012 is showing good prospects for Flash. There are many companies that still depend on Flash designs for presentations, banners, and ads. Flash is not dead, and it will be there for the entire 2012.
Future of 3D animators
Becoming a 3D animator isn’t easy. You need exhaustive understanding of many computer programs. Basically, you need to know these things:
- Autodesk Maya
- Adobe Photoshop
- Adobe After Effects
- Apple Soundtrack Pro
- Apple Final Cut Pro
Animation artists were in demand in 2011 and the coming year shows higher prospects. If you are an animation artist, you have career options in fields like commercials, instructional videos, video games, television promos, and movies. You can even take a job in private sector or NGOs.
Benefits offered by 3D animation
- 3D animation is much more engaging than the traditional one. Apart from that, you can add scenes and characters that have a realistic feeling. Because 3D animation seems more real, it is used in design sketches (for architectural purposes) and instructional videos for medical purposes.
- Watching 3D animation is fun. It offers an attractive amalgamation of functionality and style. No wonder 3D animation has become popular all around the world. I mean, I loved Kung fu Panda. Didn’t you?
- 3D animation is very popular in advertising. There are very few ads that strike their message through. Most of them are so vanilla that you won’t even remember what product they are marketing. Compare that to any 3D ad you saw. In fact, most ads that we remember are the ones that were funny or incredibly witty.
Moral of the story: Flash and 3D animation still have a long way to go. If you are an animator, don’t give up on these technologies because the future is still bright.
